Getting adjusted...

Here are some pics from August 11, 2009. I made this onesie using iron-on material and then the images from the computer/printer! Sooo cute!!

We've been home from the hospital for4 days now, and things are beginning to shape up. It was difficult for the first couple of days (naturally) to get into a routine with her feedings and such, since the hospital doesn't exactly help you out - continual check-ups, weighings, tests, etc... Now that we're home, we're able to get into that routine with minimal interruptions (mostly visitors) and she is eating on a good 2 1/2-3 hour schedule. She was discharged from the hospital looking perfect - no issues with her breathing or jaundice or anything. Avalyn has a bruise on her head from being stuck in the canal for a period of time, but that will go away in a couple of weeks and is nothing to worry about.

She had her first visit to the pediatrician on Monday and everything continues to look great! She lost 1 oz. since leaving the hospital, and now weighs 6 lbs., 13 oz. He was pleased with that loss (about 10% is normal and is regained in a week or so) and seemed to think it was already stabilizing. We go back again next Monday for another check to make sure things continue to thrive with her weight and health.

Both Brandon and I have been fortunate to get some sleep at night!! What?? Sleep you say?? YES! Sure it's not a continuous 8 hours or anything, but she feeds about 3 times during the night and goes right down after a feeding, allowing us to get at least 2 - 2 1/2 hours before the next feeding. It's all about routine and it appears she's picking it up already and getting adjusted, which is awesome for us! I wake up feeling refreshed in the morning and maybe, MAYBE take 1 nap during the day if I've been more active around the house.

As for me, I'm healing well and feeling great, as mentioned above. The sleep helps me to feel relaxed and energized, and my tears are healing and leaving me pain free.... slightly uncomfortable at times, but nontheless, pain free. My milk came in on Sunday night and since then, I have been doing better with the pain in that region as well... the first couple days were extremely painful! Man... they don't tell you about that either! Much better now!!
